Born and raised in New Jersey, Johnny Budz became a DJ in his early teens and started mixing at clubs at the age of 19. Inspired by DJ's such as The Latin Rascals, Franco Iammello, Little Louie Vega, Roman Ricardo, and Scott Blackwell, he played a lot of NYC House, Chicago House, Freestyle and Rap in the late 80's. In 1996 103.5 WKTU in New York City surfaced. Johnny sent them a mix tape the minute he heard the news. Within a few weeks, he got a call from assistant program director Jeff Z and the rest is history. Johnny was one of the first mixers to mix on WKTU and actually mixed one of the first Saturday Night Dance Factory's back in the spring of 1996. Johnny's versatile mixing skills are displayed every weekday at noon for the "KTU at Work Mix" along with Diane Prior. He also mixes the "Mix at 6" every Friday night at 6:00pm alongside Vic Latino and the KTU House Party as well as occasionally being featured as a guest mixer on WPYM in Miami and WPYO in Orlando, Florida. His ultimate love for current dance music is showcased in the New York and New Jersey club scene each weekend. He currently holds weekly residences at Joey's Night Club in Clifton, NJ every Wednesday night and Mirage in Westbury, Long Island every Friday night. Johnny has had the opportunity to spin at the most prestigious night clubs in the tri-state area including Exit, China Club, Club Ohm, Limelight, Tunnel, Sound Garden, Joey's, Hunka Bunka, Surf Club, Poor Billy's, Mirage, Oz, Atlantis, Club Bliss, Image, and Club Rio, just to name a few. He's also on the turntables at KTU's biggest parties each year including Party Gras and Beat Stock. Johnny's ear for music has got him involved in the remixing field as well. He's recently remixed "Heaven" by Eyra Gail, "Can you stand the rain" by Safire/Cynthia, and "Amanda" by Brooklyn Queens. Johnny's second mixed CD titled "80's Energy" is available in stores now on MCA Records, as is his debut CD "Fever Freestyle Diva's." His third mixed CD titled "Hit the Breaks" containing a collection of current Breakbeat hits will be released in January 2003 on Radikal Records.
